Circle Kitchen Knife

Exploratory study — geometric constraints in tool design

This project examined how geometric constraints influence functional tool design, using circular boundaries as a fixed parameter.

The study explored how vegetable knife profiles could be developed and optimized while remaining fully contained within circles of varying diameters. Prototypes were used to test the impact of these constraints on ergonomics, handling, and cutting efficiency.

The objective was to understand how far form could be compressed or redirected by geometry without degrading usability, and how constraint-driven design can inform more deliberate, efficient tool development.
